Madrid, Meeting at Christmas 2025–2026
This year, Madrid’s Christmas of Encounter at Matadero Madrid begins a new chapter. A new cycle in which each edition will be built around the idea of Madrid Christmas 25/26 of Encounter, with an artistic and cultural expression as the central theme guiding the entire programme. With literature at its core and Christmas as the common thread, the programme invites audiences on a journey through the stories, characters and tales that have shaped the Christmas imagination of entire generations.
Matadero Madrid will become a living tribute to the great classics of European children’s literature, featuring authors such as Shakespeare, Dickens and the Brothers Grimm, as well as the narratives that have accompanied this holiday throughout history. From 20 December to 4 January, Matadero Madrid will transform into the epicentre of the city’s Christmas celebrations, offering a wide-ranging programme that includes installations, theatre, workshops, readings and other cultural activities for all ages.
This edition aims to encourage connection, togetherness and collective celebration through shared storytelling, inviting everyone to rediscover Christmas through literature and opening the door to new forms of cultural encounter.
