In 2010 Gerardo Olivares directed Entrelobos [Amongst Wolves], a film starring Juan José Ballesta and that was inspired by the true story of Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, a boy who led a completely wild life in Sierra Morena, without any contact with civilization, for twelve years.  Now, Olivares takes down the testimony of the real-life Marcos in this documentary filmed over five years, revealing all the unknown truths of this story that the fiction film could not tackle.   Director Gerardo Olivares, from 1991 to 1992, covered all of America by land, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, in order to complete an eight-part series for TVE, La Ruta de las Córdobas.[The Route of the Cordovas].  From 1994 to 1995 he navigated the African continent in a Land Rover, from Morroco to South Africa and then towards Egypt.  He spent fifteen months completing La Ruta de los Exploradores [The Route of the Explorers] for TVE.  From 1997 to 1998 he crossed Asia, departing from Madrid to arrive in Singapur, in a truck, taking sixteen months to direct La Ruta de Samarkanda [The Samarkanda Route] for TVE. (Premio GECA for its record audience).  In 2005, after an extensive career writing and directing documentaries, he decided to take the leap to fiction, guided by José María Morales (Wanda Films) with La gran final [The Grand Finale], shot in Mongolia, the Sahara, and the Brazilian Amazon.  For this film he received several international awards and was selected for participation in- to name one- the Berlin International Film Festival.  In 2006 he wrote and directed 14 kilómetros [14 Kilometers], a film about the drama of African immigration that has garnered more than fifteen international prizes, establishing him as one of the most committed filmmakers within the Spanish film scene.  His most recent fiction film, Entrelobos [Amongst Wolves], based on the extraordinary story of Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, was one of the biggest Spanish blockbusters of 2010, with more than half a million viewers in the theaters.  He is currently immersed in his newest project, El Faro de las Orcas, [The Orca Lighthouse], yet again a film based on real events that took place in Argentina, which will be shot using the same method as Entrelobos, with one nature unit and one fiction unit.
