The Casa del Lector (Reader’s House) begins its activities at Matadero Madrid with a meeting between two promising young stars of universal literature, Pablo Nacach and Dinaw Mengestu. Nacach (Buenos Aires, 1969), an essayist, resides in Madrid and has published La vida en domingo (Life on Sundays) (Lengua de Trapo, 2006) and Barcelona-Madrid. Sobrevivir a la ciudad (Barcelona-Madrid: Surviving the city) (Península, 2010), among other books. Megestu, an American of Ethiopian origin, has covered African conflicts for Rolling Stone and Jane Magazine, and has published The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears (Penguin, 2007) and How to Read the Air (2010, Penguin).
