NEW IMAGINARIES
In collaboration with the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque, Cineteca presents a selection of screenings in dialogue with the exhibition New Imaginaries, curated by Nicolás Combarro and Miguel Ángel Delgado, in which six leading filmmakers from Spain’s contemporary scene —Oliver Laxe, Isaki Lacuesta, Laida Lertxundi, Lois Patiño, and the duo Helena Girón and Samuel M. Delgado— explore the boundaries of cinema beyond the darkened theater.
The film cycle expands the view into these creators’ worlds, offering a deeper understanding of how their work shifts between moving image and museum display. New Imaginaries proposes a journey through some of the essential questions of contemporary cinema: What can an image do? How is the film experience transformed when it moves from one space to another? How far can the narrative, formal, and sensory possibilities of the medium go today?
Between the cinema and the museum, between the visible and the invisible, this program invites us to inhabit border zones — images in transit, gestures that overflow their formats and search for new ways of thinking.
