Nadia Corral (Spain): Production design and executive production
Giulia Bonnat (Spain): Coordination, communication, and distribution
Ángel Málaga (Spain): Multimedia content design and web architecture The aim of this stage-based research process is to end up with one or more plastic proposals (a visual installation, an immersive proposal, a documentary work, a scenic proposal) by articulating a dialogue between the different members of the team on one common theme: the notion of the profane in the modern world. The project takes technology as its starting point, considered the main vehicle of the profane in the dominant, neoliberal system. In Naves Matadero Madrid, they will show a work in progress of their residency work.
“Freely inspired by the eponymous work by Umberto Eco, the project approaches the theme of the profane from the study of human communication systems, posing a parallelism with the plant world, and vice versa.
We consider as “profane” that which is uncomfortable, the idea of the collective, decentralised systems. That is why we are interested in plants and the new field of research into them: vegetable neurobiology, together with technology that, emulating plant systems, makes possible the existence of Bitcoins, Blockchainand its most common usage: P2P (peer to peer). All of this, taken in turn, will lead us to a little explored theme in the scenic world: the dark web and its current social, economic and political implications. “Profane” is to abolish the notion that every system must have an executive centre”.
MANIFESTO N0 is articulated around the collaboration within projects of creative agents from different fields and nationalities who enable long-term projects around a generative theme or idea. N0 works on the basis of communication and dialogue among people, no matter whether they represent other public or private collectives or they work alone; the only base is that of creative honesty. N0 does not believe in creative hierarchies; it prefers a system of horizontal and spontaneously interdisciplinary work N0 calls itself horizontal because all the components of the ensemble are guarantors of their own proposal and at the same time they are willing to fit in with the others, accepting that the end result will be out of their control. If this chain is maintained, a milieu of collective work is achieved that will always spontaneously produce an unexpected result that does not belong to the area of expertise of the members of the collective. If at the same time, these members do not limit themselves to one area of knowledge, rather they seek an encounter with other areas, then interdisciplinarity comes naturally. This produces something mutable. N0 does not exclude any field of creation. N0 believes in change, collective work, and the movement it generates. N0 works for, through and with this movement.
Number zero is a major question that delves into the roots of what we are or what we think we are, with an innovative and risky visual proposal. Number zero is a proposal about the change that we feel in the air, regardless of our ancestry, language or nationality.
