Matadero Madrid center for contemporary creation
OPENING NIGHT LA PLAZA EN VERANO 2016
La Romería de los Voltios, Las Vvitch, Brigitte Laverne
Institution
La Romería de los Voltios
This unusual celebration was dreamt up by a diverse crowd of revellers from Madrid eager to transform the world (even if it’s just a micro-world or a parallel universe) through music and dance.
La Romería invites everyone to take part in a parade through Matadero as well as in the opening speech that kicks off the La Plaza en Verano programme and in the large dance party that will stir the soul with the activities held in this Madrid square, where The Party is Permanent.
Las Vvitch
Through lyrics and trap beats, this band from Barcelona reviews the history of feminism, demonstrating that there are no patriarchal music genres but rather male chauvinist discourses that appropriate beats like techno rap and reggaeton in order to perpetuate themselves.
Brigitte Laverne Laverne, who took part in the last edition of the Red Bull Music Academy (Tokyo 2014), made her debut in style at Sónar2015, presenting her first EP of softly articulated lo-fi synth pop perfect for slow dancing.
