The Asociación Semilla for social integration in collaboration with David Delfín present a youth fashion show where the kids themselves are both the stars and the creative force behind the event.
The Asociación Semilla, which is working for children's social integration, presents on June 8 the fashion show entitled “Oxímoron: dos mundos opuestos” (Oxymoron: Two Different Worlds).  To help prepare the event, the group has brought in the well-known designer David Delfín

Oxímoron shows us the lights and the shadows of two different worlds.  One, aquatic, deep, submerged, solitary, but always protected by a certain halo.  The other, sand, full of brightness, creativity and hope, but at the same time raw and terrifying, where the men and women who inhabit it are left exposed to the gaze of others.  The name is a word game: the union of these two worlds, as a metaphor of adaptation.

“Oxímoron” is a hopeful look- stark but sincere- created by a group of teenagers ages 16 to 18 from Villaverde Alto to reflect their own reality.  It is also proof that creativity, art and culture can be catalysts for social transformation, since it is the teenagers themselves who star in the show.

This fashion show is not trying to be cutting-edge, nor does it want to set the next trends.  Instead, its sole intention is to make visible this cultural expression, which is the culmination of six months of work and has marked a milestone in the personal progress of these boys and girls.
