Paradise lost 1,2 and 3 are three documentaries shot between 1993 and 2011 which follow the case of the West Memphis Three. Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky‘s award-winning documentaries are: Paradise Lost 1: The Child Murders At Robin Hood Hills (1996), Paradise Lost 2: Revelations (2000), Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory (2011).
The West Memphis Three is a case that has been in a public consciousness since the mid-Nineties. The conviction of three Arkansas teenagers in 1994 for the gruesome murder of three 8-yr-old boys horrified a community and created a media circus. The films documented the trials and appeals of the three defendants; Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jr. and Jason Baldwin.
