Matadero Madrid will be housing, from June 15 until September, the mobile version of the Bancomer-macgYoung Artists Archive, a reference point for information about the work done by more than seventy artists, both Mexican and international, residing in Mexico. As a living and breathing space, this project incorporates features designed to bring further definition and new functions to the archive beyond its original ones. Workshops, conferences and seminars, as well as a complete library with topics of interest for the artists, are some of the arms and events the Archive will offer over the course of the year.
Thus Madrid and her people will learn about the projects completed by young artists who are unknown outside of Mexico, and come to understand the topics that occupy them and their newest projects thanks to the images, videos and personal interviews provided.
Additionally, Matadero Madrid will be offering a video series involving some of the artists featured in the archive, chosen by the curator Ruth Estévez. These videos deal with topics related to and common to the work of all those forming part of the new generation of Mexican artists.
