PROYECTOR keeps pursuing its vocation for international dialogue (above all between Portugal and Spain, which again seem to be relegated to the stigma of the fringe) and for formal experimentation. Yet it rests, at the same time, its gaze -a gaze that yearns to be active, critical, and of the people- on the question of location. Location around two axes: the body and the street. We understand space as a political element, therefore this year we intend to delve into the dimension of the body and public space as places for contention and militance, and civic empowerment. We understand that visual practices must be directed -in a centrifugal movement- toward the people, which is why we've bet on the street, independent spaces, and the workshops of artists as locations that desire to be close to the people. PROYECTOR sets out to reaffirm the ‘social performativity’ of art, working to strengthen, using visual language, its inherent capacity for agency and transformation.
In accordance with the importance the Festival puts on the social function of cultural mediation, there will be guided tours. Likewise, PROYECTOR will feature a body of conferences and roundtables intended to be a niche for generating critical mass and online job creation.
