RONDA DE LIBROS (BOOK ROUNDS)

In the training course entitled Ronda de libros, which will be delivered in April, May and June, 2013 in Casa del Lector; the Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez  makes tools available to professionals from the reading world, which are the result of the experience and innovative resources developed up till now in reading programs in its Centros de Salamanca (CILIJ) and Peñaranda de Bracamonte (CDS).   Ronda de libros will be held in Casa de Lector, in April on the 7^th and 14^th; in May on the 5^th, 12^th and 19^th, and in June on the 2^nd, 9^th and 16^th.   The importance of beginning reading at an early age has been one of the Foundation’s premises since it began as an institution, in 1981, and the axis point of the Centro Internacional del Libro Infantil y Juvenil’s (CULIJ) activities, since its creation in 1985, in Salamanca.   With the preceding Prelectores (pre-literacy) program for children aged between 3 and 6, which the foundation undertook in 1985, the CILIJJ opened Ronda de libros in 1988, at which point it was aimed at children from nine months to 3 years old in which the family is treated as its core element.   Ronda de libros’ course program will be lead by Teresa Corchete and Sara Iglesias, responsible for and experts in, respectively: Family programs and the CILIJ ‘s Early years program at the foundation. Both Professionals were responsible for Leer sin saber leer (Reading without knowing how to read) the first training course for professionals in the field of reading launched at Casa de Lector, and centred around the possibilities of picture books being able to stimulate all senses in young children.   Ronda de Libros is a program for babies aged from nine months to 3 years, and accompanying adults, that has the aim of opening up reading in different mediums to little ones, it also entails emotions, play and meeting up with other babies and families.     The project is structured around one hour weekly sessions, where different activities take place that are of a playful and very participatory nature, they will be carried out in groups and families; complimentary materials and resources will be made available with different information and resources for adults.   In the one hour weekly sessions: ·        Children have the opportunity to listen, in small groups or individually, to stories told by the organizers or their parents, play with puppets and create their own stories, share stories with other children… ·        Game activities with songs, rhymes and mime will be carried out, in which adult participation is essential. ·        Children and adults will be invited, on various occasions, to tell stories collectively. It is an experience that aims to instill the habit of reading, and the love of words, images and stories into the home.
