Sanctuaries, an exhibition of drawings and photography displayed in Plaza Matadero, is part of the Capital Animal festival of art, culture, thinking and animal rights, the first edition of which will be held at various cultural institutions around the city of Madrid.    Sanctuaries displays images and information on the animal sanctuaries that currently exist in Spain. The exhibition, curated by Ruth Toledano, will show drawings by artist Joaquín Secall. It will also feature photographs by photo activists Filming for Liberation and Tras los Muros.   The exhibition aims to transport these sanctuaries to an environment steeped in history, symbolism and emotion, i.e. Matadero Madrid, a space that not too long ago served a radically different purpose.

Opening: 19 May.  20 h. Free Admission
