“Not knowing what you're going to see is one of the best ways of going to the theater”. AURÉLIEN BORY

“The relationship between man and machine is evolving really quickly. It's not a question of judging it, but accepting it," says Aurélien Bory (Colmar, France, 1972), a creator who loves surprising his audience with his spectacular brand of art mixing circus, dance and visual theatre. Regarding his quite unique mise-en-scène,  international critics ask themselves: “Are we talking about theatre, new circus, dance, new technology? They're all present here, but what we're really talking about is stage prestidigitation, real magic, a SHOW, yes, in capital letters”.  With Sans Objet this French creator, scientist and circus performer explores the binding connection between human beings and technology- a link that's growing ever tighter, but that's not necessarily becoming better understood because of it. Onstage, like a strange mythological figure, an automotive industry robot that conjures up images from 1970s science fiction. Out of its context, “objectless - meaningless”, this powerful jointed arm becomes an actor, another cast member next to Olivier Alenda and Olivier Boyer, whose choreographic dialogue overflows with poetry. Sans Objet recreates humorously and poetically a space that's becoming increasingly familiar- that in which robots are humanized and humans are robotized. Without words, the actors' bodies turn into a tool for communication, in live material dancing, fighting, playing, winning and losing in front of the disturbing energy of this metal arm.   About the company
