Date
3 February 2011
Venue
Nave 17. Nave una
Programme
Intermediae
On the occasion of the seed swap, the group myvillage.org has set up The International Village Shop, based on a temporary or semi-permanent trade platform designed for the trade of locally produced goods between an open and growing number of rural and urban spaces across different communities. After making stops in countries such as Japan, United States, England, Germany and Holland, this project will now contemplate the local territory in Madrid along with the Seed Swap Bank initiative. The International Village Shop raises questions about local identity, the differences between traditional and imported goods and their respective methods of production and consumption, the relationship between the earth and the worth assigned to its products and what is typical of a place, defining it and thereby becoming part of its memory. Together, myvillages, ecosecha and intermediae offer a dynamic exchange of products to those attending this stop of The International Village Shop.
