Syncope is a sudden loss of consciousness, usually brief and reversible. Sleeping Beauty is a computer that recognizes our emotions and translates them into images, fragmented cells alive and loudness.
MAD_B (MásAlláDel_Bajón) will connect the human mind with the mind of the machine. The performer / musician is connected to an oximeter and his heart rate is measured and amplified. Heartbeats are captured in real time and placed on a continuous loop of sound. Thus each systole and diastole becomes audible signal which will wake up this “beautiful” and “sleeper” machine. An electronic circuit composed of analog sound pieces and distortion pedals, will transform the heart rates in new sonic textures, like a distorted fairy tale. Sleeping Beauty is promiscuous and reinvented itself with new energy every time.
The visuals will be handled directly by modeling fractal images and patterns generated from audio signals that are changing constantly. It is a restorative therapy that returns the senses to Sleeping Beauty machine (no matter how long the session). But sometimes, what wakes up can not go back to sleep.
