That is why her work can often be seen in international festivals and spaces of contemporary creation and exhibition such as Tanzfabrik (Berlin), Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain (Paris), Humain Trop Humain CDN (Montpellier) or the Southbank Centre (London) and, here in Spain, MACBA, Mercat de les Flors, Sâlmon< Festival, Tabakalera or the Veranos de la Villa Festival, among many others.
Since 2010, she has combined artistic creation with the organisation of the Living Room Festival (Madrid) together with Juan Domínguez, Luis Úrculo and Cuqui Jerez; the curation of PICNIC SESSIONS 2017 at CA2M in Mostoles and teaching in the Master's Degree in Scenic Practice and Visual Culture at the UCLM (the University of Castile - La Mancha).
During the process of creating the piece entitled The Stain, María Jerez has invited a carpenter, a musician, a painter, a baker and a light designer to work with her, and she has put things together that aren't meant to be together. The Stain is part of the research project The Paradoxical Being with Mixed-up Hairs.
María Jerez reflects on her piece, The Stain: “Bodies that enter into other bodies, this morning, bodies that are not intended to be together, I was on the radio, beings of a different nature that cohabit in the same space and I asked myself, coexistence of the difference that creates friction between the different matters, if in the kitchen of the person listening to the radio, bodies inside bodies, there might be, pieces of bodies that come out of bodies, a plant, logics out of context, they say, presences out of place, that when, spaces invaded by other substances, plants, spaces for negotiation, listen to low frequencies, border spaces, these, spaces of co-evolution, favour germination, spaces for cooking, growing, spaces of indifference and the health of the roots. High frequencies, on the other hand, seem to have an inhibitory effect”.
