VIII FESTIVAL CINE POR MUJERES MADRID
While the Festival is aimed at a broad audience, it places special emphasis on future generations, offering female role models that inspire real progress toward gender equity.
The Festival is promoted by both women and men who seek to enrich culture through a diverse and plural lens, thereby helping to reduce gender inequality in the film industry. It celebrates the ability of women directors to explore a wide range of subjects and styles, free from gender bias or stereotypes. In short, it is a film festival BY women, not FOR or ABOUT women—since such a category of cinema does not exist.
For this 8th edition, we are preparing a diverse selection of approximately 70 feature films, both international and Spanish, encompassing fiction, animation, and documentary. Most of these films are multi-award-winning and will be screened in 17 prestigious venues across central Madrid. In addition, much of the program will be available online via Filmin, and 8madrid TV will complement the event with a curated cycle of films directed by women from its catalogue.
Each edition features a guest country, offering insight into the most recent film production from a specific region. In this 8th edition, we will celebrate FOCUS FRANCE 2025, dedicated to French women filmmakers.
Professional and educational activities are a core part of the Festival’s program. Since its first edition, we have organized professional meetings, round tables, masterclasses, and film presentations, all aimed at showcasing the role of women across every stage of film production: creation and training, production and reproduction, promotion and marketing, distribution and commercialization, and consumption and accessibility.
