WE DON’T KNOW HOW TO GET BACK ALONE

We Don’t Know How to Get Back Alone opens at 7pm on Friday 15 April at Matadero Madrid. The exhibition presents the results of this edition of the Matadero Madrid–AECID Residency Programme to the public. We Don’t Know How to Get Back Alone showcases the work of eleven creative artists from Spain, Cuba and Finland selected in public open calls managed by Matadero Madrid and its partner centres in this edition of the programme: Artista x Artista in Havana, HIAP in Helsinki and Tokyo Wonder Site in Tokyo.

Six Spanish artists were selected for this edition, and completed 12-week residencies that began on 25 January. The Spanish artists included Andrea Canepa with the project Anschauung, Arash Moori with Parasitic Noise, Belén with The New Sincerity, Fermín Jiménez Landa with El mal de la Taiga, Ferrán Pla with Lancelot Plisséy and Pedro Luis Cembranos with Galaxia M-50 (for audio tape and voice). In early March the programme was joined by Cuban artists jorge&larry, with the project We Are at the Mercy of Featuring, and Luis Manuel Otero, with From the Necessary Museums Series, as well as Finnish artists Anna Estarriola, with A Post-Apocalyptic Message Arrives. It Comes from the Future, and Nastja Säde Rönkkö, with A Walk with You. The artists completed 6-week residencies.
