The We-Traders: Trading the Crisis For A City project connects initiatives uniting artists, designers, activists, and many other members from five European countries with different urban contexts, and creates a platform for knowledge and production for We-Traders. In cities like Lisbon, Madrid, Turin, Toulouse, and Berlin, the current crisis takes on a different appearance, from empty coffers and social polarization to a lack of civic sense as result of excessive growth.
What initiatives worked well in a certain context? What are the most likely reasons for their success? Can the same elements be reproduced elsewhere? How does the relationship between private initiatives and public administration in different contexts?
We-Traders sets out to compare the different local solutions to international problems emphasizing participation. The fluidity between the role of buyer and seller, consumer and producer, professor and student will act as the common ground for all We-Traders project activities, from the expert workshops to the events and exhibitions (“Plazas de Mercado”).
From September 2013 until November 2014, a series of interactive forums, vibrant exhibition formats, workshops, and a free space online invite us to join the We-Traders platform.
Intermediae is one of Madrid's sponsors, together with Goethe-Institut Madrid, Medialab Prado, HUB Madrid, and Matadero Madrid.
Selected projects for Madrid:
Elli / The Political Fiction Crisis Cabinet [Gabinete de crisis de ficciones políticas]
Teamlabs / Walkinn Coop
The Barley Field [El Campo de Cebada]
All For the Praxis [Todo por la Praxis]
Greenhouse of Citizen Initiatives [Vivero de Iniciativas Ciudadanas] (VIC)
