When the Rain Stops Falling returns to the same stage where it was first shown last year and where it received great public and critical success.   Written by author Andrew Bovell in 2008, it was originally produced by Brink Productions Australia, in collaboration with scenographer Hossein Valamanesh. It is a family saga – told through jumps in time, with various layers – which encompasses four generations of the same family and moves between Europe and Australia, between 1959 and 2039. It is an anatomy of parent-child relationships, where nine characters from the same family confront the mysteries of their past so they can understand their future. The work explores how patterns of pain, abandonment, destruction, forgiveness and love are helplessly passed on from one to another, until one day, when the deserts are flooded by the sea, someone finds the courage to challenge this legacy. This powerful drama goes to the heart of family ties and their true essence. It is told with empathy towards human beings and their complexities, with surprising elements of humour, poetry and hope.    Awards The play has won three Premios Max: best stage director (Julián Fuentes Reta), best lead actress (Susi Sánchez) and best theatre production, in addition to awards from the Spanish Actors Union for the best supporting actress and actor (Consuelo Trujillo and Jorge Muriel) and best actress and actor in a minor role (Susi Sánchez and Felipe García Vélez).
