“From the pooling of research and analysis tools (vocabulary, references, intuitions and methods of work) taken from several artistic fields (dance, performance art, installation, video, sound, text), we invite participants to ask questions about the place of the body in relation to a more or less displaced technical device. The use of tools for capturing, broadcasting and amplification such as computers, infrared cells, cameras, microphones, speakers, photosensitive lenses, or even mirrors, confronts the body in motion with the image and sound that it produces in space. In LAB_REC, the body is a narrative support, an eye&ear body that is based on notions of presences and absences, of what is real and what is virtual. In LAB_REC the legendary “here and now” no longer exists.
The workshop will put us in a state of alert to point out the hazards and the wonders of the world of “highly distorted” perceptions in which we live. It will result in a participatory experience that will make it possible to become aware of how we manufacture our own image. See more? Hear more? In any case, see and hear in a different way”, the artists say.
For this particular LAB_REC MATADERO, Olga Mesa and Francisco Ruiz de Infante are calling for twenty participants who will meet for two intense days of work. Afterwards, six of them will continue the Carmen // Shakespeare adventure by rounding out the cast of the LA TOTAL (TENSION) working residency.
