Throughout the History of Film, biographies of writers have occupied a noteworthy place. The interest in the life and work of relevant authors has been translated into numerous films that, whether fiction or documentary, have outlined an extensive panorama. But it is at the first approach, that of fiction, with reference to longer or shorter plots of a biographical nature, where this session pauses.

Patrick Brontë, a clergyman of the Anglican church from 1806, married Mary Branwell in 1812. The married couple settled in Yorkshire, where Charlotte, Emily and Anne were born: The Brontë sisters. The film traces an image of the repressed Victorian education that the writers endured; the three of them victims of a difficult existence. Their literary works, so passionate and sensitive, contrast with the reality of their lives, dominated by arguments with their father and caring for their younger brother.
