Quarterly Residencies for Environmental Projects 2025

Matadero Madrid’s Center for Artistic Residencies launches this open call with the specific aim of providing workspaces, financial support, tools, professional guidance, institutional backing, and visibility to eight visual artists residing in Spain. Among the selected projects, at least four must be by artists residing in the Madrid Region, and up to four may be artists based in the rest of Spain.

The residencies will last three months, from September 15 to December 15, 2025.

A key requirement of the residency is the use of a workspace at the Center for Artistic Residencies at Matadero Madrid. Projects must fall within the broad scope of contemporary artistic creation.

Through this initiative, the following goals are pursued:

a) To promote the professional development of visual artists residing in Spain.
b) To provide local creators with institutional support and access to workspaces and financial resources to facilitate artistic production.
c) To establish a supportive and educational context that enables the successful realization of each residency project.
d) To foster connections among the various players in the city’s art scene, the institution, and the public.
