Nave 10 Matadero is a public centre for the production and promotion of the performing arts. Located in Matadero Madrid, it’s dedicated to the creation of contemporary drama and offers the public a stable and accessible programme. The main aim of this new theatrical space, which belongs to the city council’s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, is to promote new playwrights and stage directors and to create a place where emerging writers and directors and established professionals can meet, reflect and discuss ways to develop new ideas, practices and artistic creation.
In order to concentrate, enhance and showcase the talent of creators from Madrid and elsewhere, Nave 10 Matadero is based on three fundamental pillars: contemporary Spanish playwriting, new stage directing, and training and innovation in the performing arts. The project, which takes place in three different spaces—Sala Max Aub, Sala de Hormigón and Sala de Madera—at Nave 10 Matadero, is particularly sensitive to its immediate surroundings and neighbourhood, and offers a mediation programme that’s open to local residents.
Nave 10 Matadero is a theatre for a 21st-century audience.
