Andrea Aguilera
Andrea Aguilera’s project focuses on the search for methodologies that allow her to address some of the questions permeating the photographic image within her artistic practice. Through a process of study and observation, her material production emerges as a result of an approach to the work that is grounded in fragility, the body, and the transitory nature of the image. Thus, in (the act of staging), she initiates the search for a methodology that will allow her to propose new ways of reading the photographic image, in order to return it to a dimension of the imaginary that makes it possible to imagine-speculate.
Biography
Andrea Aguilera (Bilbao, 1997) holds a degree in Art from the University of the Basque Country and trained at PRAXIS, the educational structure and apparatus of Fluent, and at JAI, Jardun Artistikoentzako Institutua. She has developed her work through residencies at Tabakalera, the International Contemporary Culture Centre (San Sebastian), and Servicios Generales (Madrid). She recently held her first solo exhibition, parmi, curated by Andrea Fontana and Maureen Muse at La Papeleria (Madrid). She has also exhibited her work in group exhibitions such as Listening through the Wall with a Soft Plastic Cup, curated by Estéfana Román Matesanz at Les Pralines (Basil), and An Elastic Time, curated by Beatriz Alonso at the c arte c (Madrid), among others.
Andrea Aguilera is a recipient of the 2026 three-month residencies for visual artists.
