Horma

AURA (MEMOIR)

The AURA (MEMOIR) project was designed specifically for the Matadero residency. It is based on an EP that takes as its starting point and sound base field recordings made by the Sound Readers collective in the naves of Matadero Madrid during an analogue residency held ten years ago, as part of their project Matadero Aural Memory. Horma’s offering presents two paths, one of musical production revolving around memory and space, and the other of visual/conceptual research focusing on identity and the artificial intelligence that permeates almost every layer of creative and relational processes today.

The EP, which will combine industrial techno/EBM with ambient music recycled from the legacy of the Sound Readers, aims to be an invitation to trance and dance, and to the aural discovery of space abstracted from itself. A collection of solid tracks with a production that allows you to navigate different layers of texture while remaining firmly anchored to the beat. An intermittent techno, that slips in and out of these atmospheres that, like all sufficiently open, sufficiently concrete field recordings, take each listener to a different and yet common place.

BIO
Horma, the new project from Sole Parody, focuses on the production of techno and electronic music and the visual and textual exploration of the glitches, clichés and babble generated at the fringes of AI. After years working at the intersection of electronica and folk under her best-known alias, Le Parody, Horma represents a departure from her more mechanical side and an opportunity for Sole Parody to explore her facet as a producer and give herself a new space for experimentation.

With Horma she also explores “the possibility of being other, of being many”. Running experimental side projects under different pseudonyms is intended as a way of resisting the modern mandate for brand identity, escaping the ego of proper names and ultimately carving out her own space of freedom in which to explore all kinds of musical hybridisations. To begin with, Horma is exploring minimal and industrial techno, modular ambient and the dynamics of club music.
