Residencies for Audiovisual Projects in the Development Period in Collaboration with Cineteca

El ruido bello (The Beautiful Noise)

El ruido bello is a film essay that explores the profound relationship between rhythm, the body, and the cinematographic image through flamenco hand-clapping. The film does not attempt to document flamenco from an ethnographic or purely observational logic, but rather to use hand-clapping as a mechanism for audiovisual thinking: a way of understanding how cinema organises time, generates tension, and constructs meaning through editing and repetition. The project stems from a simple intuition: cinema and hand-clapping share the same invisible material: rhythm. Hand-clapping does not just accompany; it sustains, interrupts, anticipates. Similarly, film editing does not just join images together; it creates breaths, spaces, and pulses. From this correspondence, Julián constructs a metalinguistic dialogue between flamenco gesture and the language of film.
