Julián Génisson
Oscurante (Darkening)
In his project, Julián Génisson intertwines the stories of two characters: Pedro, who can only sleep if someone is by his side, and Adriana, who discovers a way to monetise sleep by streaming herself asleep. Their destinies will collide in the wake of a grotesque epidemic. Oscurante is a film about fear. It pits the fear of loneliness against the fear of company; the fear of darkness against the fear of being seen; the fear of crazy ideas that strike at night, when logical thought lets its guard down. But where there is fear there is also fascination: for the night-time, for whatever lies behind drawn curtains, and for an act as banal and profoundly anomalous as that of sleeping.
