Manuela Inclán y Juan Herranz
Planting Summer is an artistic approximation to the agricultural ecosystem from listening, which is understood not only as a recording medium, but also as a form of attention. The project explores the material and cultural dimension of certain seeds and crops currently in decline, mapping relationships between body, territory and oral transmission.
Its component sound segments originate from encounters with different landscapes and horticultural practices, and are configured as autonomous fragments that continue and reformulate this experience in the sound space. In their work, the artists propose a non-linear narrative, where each segment functions as an independent sound clip constructed from field recordings, informal conversations and everyday gestures, Together they configure a relationship between the material nature of the countryside and the time shared listening to the clip.
Bio
Juan Herranz Calleja (Madrid, 1990) and Manuela Inclán Figueiras (Burgos, 1993) collaborate on projects that combine sound art, installation and situated thinking.
Juan is a qualified sound technician (CEV) with a master's degree in Sound Post-production for Film (ECAM). They have worked together on offerings that link space and sound experimentation within the "continuo” collective. They are also working together on a botanical route and its sound recording, exploring forms of attention and listening in terms of the park’s ecology.
Both Manuela Inclán and Juan Herranz are beneficiaries of a Three-month Residency for Environmental Projects (2025).
