MP3 (Movement Played by 3)

MP3 (Movement Played by 3) is a sound research project that uses electronic synthesis and devices that harness the movement of the body to generate and energise sound. The three members of the group, Arnau Pérez, Pau Vegas and Fernando Careaga, record the sounds made by a moving body and its rhythmic patterns and dynamics. Based on these recordings, they compose works that swing between the sonic and the visual. The group will record their first LP during their residency.

BIO

Arnau Pérez, Pau Vegas and Fernando Careaga set up MP3 to explore the creation of sound through the movement of the body. Focused primarily on stage development, the group’s creative universe is a hybrid format in which electronic music intersects with the visual support provided by movement and dance, always using recording devices such as microphones and placing their compositions at the service of a rhythmic and dynamic narrative.

MP3 are the recipients of the 2024 Residency for an Experimental Electronic Music Project at the Matadero Madrid’s Centre for Artists in Residence.
