Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc underwent a great transformation as a result of her contact with the divine. At the age of just seventeen, she went to the court of the Dauphin Charles VII so that the heir would put the leadership of the army in her hands. Against all odds, the young woman - who claims to speak in the name of God - manages to lift the English siege of the city of Orleans and become a leader for the soldiers and the people. The ways of the spirit, however, always end up transgressing earthly ones, so that Joan falls from glory to trial for heresy. 

The story of the Maid of Orleans, halfway between historiography and myth, has fed the collective imagination for the last six centuries, giving rise to remarkable works in film and on stage. The tragedy of a young woman who, moved by the strength of her spiritual connection, courageously confronts the powers of her time is as relevant today as it has been in the past. 

Marta Pazos directs an entirely female cast which, with a script by Sergio Martínez Vila,  vindicate the figure of Joan of Arc as a defiant light and a ‘living flame of love’ in a period of crushing darkness. An epic proposal based on a language inspired by mystical poetry and vision. A show that seeks to rewrite the myth beyond the official version that has survived to this day. 

This show uses stroboscopic light devices that can affect people with epilepsy.
