  “Only the placid habituation of the day-to-day, the banal, the minimum, seems sufficient to cast a veil over  what seethes below, the confusion and disorder, the isolation and misunderstanding.  Wisdom, learning, humanity and capacity for self-sacrifice are almost non-existent values, denied to this country group of actors, with their very peculiar idiosyncrasies.  They seem to feel and decide: is it better to stay out of it and not interfere with history, being eaten alive, destroying oneself…  Throughout the play one question floats in the air: can one avoid this spiritual rot and allow the soul to flow freely?  I still tend to think about the curing and benign- why not?- nature of creation and about man's attitude towards creation.  Obviously, this is a presentation of the problem without its corresponding solution".
