Located in a holiday town on the Mediterranean coast, La Florida is an apartment building where people come to spend the summer. In winter however, it becomes a ghost town. In fact in La Florida, when the cold weather arrives, barely a handful of souls live there. Life comes to a standstill. Nothing ever happens until one winter night, a dead man is found floating in the pool.

The case is assigned to Antonio, a detective who is devoted body and soul to his work and who has barely managed to build a life for himself other than his job. La Florida will end up ensnaring him in its trap, just like a carnivorous plant traps a fly.

La Florida is a tribute to film noir, but it is also an excuse, a MacGuffin, to talk about the corruption of society and about decent detectives who work their fingers to the bone and are the sole defenders of justice in seedy cities; about heroines and femmes fatales running from their past; and also about unrequited love and eccentric souls, wracked by loneliness. La Florida, that building consumed by the dampness rising up from the sea, is the last resting place of various characters who have nowhere else to live. Because, if someone really wants to hide themselves away or turn their backs on life... is there anywhere quieter than Benidorm in winter?
