LO ÚNICO QUE NECESITA UNA ACTRIZ ES UNA GRAN OBRA Y GANAS DE TRIUNFAR

After its success at Fringe 13, the Mexican group Vaca 35 Teatro en Grupo comes back to occupy the warehouse at Naves del Español Matadero Madrid with Lo único que necesita una actriz es una gran obra y ganas de triunfar, inspired by Genet's Las buenas, which during the last edition of the festival was extended due to its popularity with both the public and critics.   “Humiliation can only be born of humiliation; otherwise, it is nothing but vanity,” claims Jean Genet in Querelle de Brest. Audiences will not find any costumes or décors that reveal a specific time or style. The space becomes a proposal in itself, the dialogue takes place between the space and the actress after stripping everything to a bare minimum with a structure the reveals the real and fictional limits of the actor, the character, the spectator, the space and the dramatised work itself.   Lo único que necesita una gran actriz es una gran obra y ganas de triunfar focuses on two central themes: life as a mechanical existence and theatre as an authentic space in a world that has transformed art into merchandise. It seeks, through universal themes, to question the world of Genet based on the use of performance, of theatre as the only apparent outlet, of food, drink, dance and the odd fairy tale, to draw us away from, or bring us closer to, the devastation of social stereotypes, marginalisation and the zero possibility of any type of atonement.   The warehouse at Naves del Español is a very special and ideal setting for this performance and will allow audiences to experience the work first-hand as seating is limited to 25.
