For me, every custom could be questioned except one: the custom of living.
Luis Luque brings Javier Gomá’s essays to the stage—an invitation to the loving art of sitting and listening. Through words, they create an intimate and personal connection with ideas, reminding us that we can all, at times, be philosophers. Philosophy lies in everyday acts: never forget to listen to the doorkeeper.
Philosophy and theatre are compatible because they share poetry. Javier Gomá, philosopher, writer, and director of the Fundación March, skillfully defends the idea that anyone can be a philosopher. To philosophize is to interpret the world. The essays, originally published in various outlets and gathered in Mundane Philosophy, form an inventory of reflections on daily life. Luis Luque, who adapted and directed the piece, gives physical and vocal presence to Gomá’s thought, inviting us to listen and contemplate.
The actors on stage will speak about love, luck, the importance of revealing small things, and the beauty of living with dignity—with depth and humor. With the special collaboration of artist Covadonga Villamil, Luque prepares us to watch plants grow and to understand how that gesture mirrors the workings of the world, because thought is a seed and the stage is fertile ground for planting it.
