McKenzie shares her reflections on two concepts she calls ficting and facting.

McKenzie Wark is an essayist and pioneer in reflecting on network power, new class vectors, and forms of cultural resistance to toxic technological imaginaries. She is internationally renowned for her philosophical essays and a body of work in which biographical experiences shape theoretical reflection. Her books published in Spanish include the classics A Hacker Manifesto and Sensoria, as well as her more recent titles Reverse Cowgirl, Raving, and Love and Money, Sex and Death: A Memoir (Historia de vida).

In this special event, McKenzie shares her reflections on two concepts she calls ficting and facting. In truth, they are not separate processes. Any attempt to stabilize a fact relies on fictions; any attempt to imagine a fiction is always entangled with facts. Once we operate with this dual concept of ficting and facting, we can begin to explore how to create experiences where the vector of communication serves as the medium to build autonomous, autopoietic, and self-correcting assemblages of human and non-human agents.
