Designed for people ages 6 to 99, this activity invites us to travel to a shoreline with an intertidal zone—the strip of sand exposed to air at low tide and submerged at high tide. Participants will imagine hybrid animals capable of living in this environment, deciding what kind of species they are, what they look like, where they live, what their families are like, what they enjoy doing, and more.
Then, using different materials—just as tides shape the ecosystem—each participant will help create a new home on that beach for the invented creatures. An ecosystem that changes depending on who inhabits it, a refuge where all beings and all diversities are welcome.
This proposal comes from Plataforma Bajoteja, a collective of young cultural workers specializing in artistic and cultural mediation projects in the performing arts. Their work is grounded in the intersection of diversity, territory, and the right to culture, through participatory processes that bring together artists, cultural institutions, citizens, civil society actors, and public administrations. They have collaborated with institutions such as Museo Reina Sofía, Fundación María José Jove, Fundación Daniel y Nina Carasso, Hablar en arte, Pedagogías Invisibles, and AMECUM.
