Programme

Centre for Artists in Residence

Located in Nave 16 at Matadero Madrid, the Centro de Residencias Artísticas is a shared workspace and meeting point for artists and cultural practitioners who develop projects across research, process, and creation. Throughout the year, activities are organized to share what happens behind the scenes, but it is during the Open Studios that all residents present their work directly to the public.

At this upcoming Open Studios, the eight visual arts residents taking part are Antonio Fernández Alvira, Julia Llerena, Elisa Pardo Puch, Simón Sepúlveda, Andrea Aguilera, Taxio Ardanaz, Mar Guerrero, and Martínez Bellido, along with artist Hodei Herreros, recipient of the Ministry of Culture grant for the Tabacalera Centro de Arte residency program.

Also participating are Maite Gallardo Alba, resident in music production for bands; Costa Badía, resident in art and education; and the associations Debajo del Sombrero and AMECUM.

The event will also include the Investigación Situada residents from Medialab Matadero: Andrea Muniáin, Paula Ramos Mollá, Calin Segal, and Álvaro Soto López.

During the Open Studios, the advisory team for the visual arts residencies, curator and art critic Bea Espejo and artist Antonio Ballester Moreno, will lead guided visits offering first-hand insight into the projects currently being developed.
