MAYBE ELEPHANTS (Torill Kove, Canadá, 2024, 15´)
Maybe Elephants takes us back to the 1970s as three teenage daughters, a restless mother, a father who fights for his potatoes and, maybe elephants, find themselves in bustling Nairobi. The family will never be the same again. Affectionate autobiographical tribute to the author's family and adolescence and to the therapeutic power of memories, however unreliable they may be.
THE ONE WHO KNOWS (Eglė Davidavičė, Lithuania, 2023, 12´)
Ūla, an anxious teenager, is drawn into an unexpected adventure during her swim training. She will grow up and learn to see her body in a new light. Inspired by the short story Women Who Run with the Wolves, the film explores the idea of an older woman with knowledge, power and strength that dwells within all women.
MEDEA A LA DERIVA (MEDEA ADRIFT) (Mari Cruz Leo, Spain, 2024, 14´)
In a large block of ice lost in the sea, the lonely Medea tries to snatch her life without success, to escape the sentence imposed by Zeus: to be immortal in that agonizing frozen wasteland. As the days go by, Medea's strength falters just like that iceberg turned into a prison. Based on the comic by Fermín Solís.
FREERIDE IN C (Edmunds Jansons, Latvia, 2024, 10´)
The white tranquility of the mountains is disturbed by colorful enthusiasts enjoying alpine skiing. Winter sports enthusiasts in red and blue ski suits race down the slopes. Everything from the queues at the ski lifts to the mad dashes down the slopes happens to the fast rhythm of electronic music.
THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST (W LESIE SA LUDZIE) (Szymon Ruczynski, Poland, 2023, 10´)
Since 2021, situations of great violence have been commonplace on the Polish-Belarusian border of the European Union, the scene of a refugee crisis that continues unabated. The only witnesses to the scene are the inhabitants of a nearby village. An animated documentary whose creator happens to live in a village on the border.
PERCEBES (Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves, Portugal, 2024, 11´)
With the sea and the urban Algarve as a backdrop, we follow a complete life cycle of a very special mollusk: the barnacle. From its formation to the plate, in this journey we go through different contexts that allow us to better understand this region and those who live in it, as a testimony to the overly touristy cities. Winner of the Short Film Crystal at Annecy 2024.
> Suitable for all audiences.
